How do I lose weight without starving myself or going on a diet?

I am 15 years old and I am five foot eight and weigh 147 lbs. I am in the entertainment industry and I think I need to lose weight. I would like to weigh 130 lbs. I have tried everything but nothing seems to work. I work out often and love to run and
swim, what should i do?

Try increasing your workout by doing something else like yoga or dance or bumping up your running. Also, you can make healthier choices in your diet like substituting junkfood for healthier snacks. Good Luck

Find a fun hobby you have that involves you moving. If you like to watch TV fix a room that you can do exercise in front of a TV. That is what I did. You don’t necessarily have to go on a diet just don’t eat more than you have too. And try substituting a bag of chips for peanuts or grapes.

I have a friend who is a little on the over weight sidee. My suggestion is to eat healthy foods such as fruits and veggies, but make sure to also check the number of calories and fats and carbs your taking in. Excersing would also be a good choice, try to at least excersice 3-4 times a week.

My wife lost some weight easily with the Pen and Paper Diet, but it is a diet for adults. Your supposed to check with your doctor if it’s ok for teenagers.

  24. elint67 said :

Have you discussed this with your doctor? 147 is within the weight-range for a medium-framed 5’8″ body. Depending on your bone structure, 130 may be unhealthy for your body-type, and 147 may be just right.

If you eat relatively healthy foods and work out often, you could be in great shape, and losing weight may not be the answer.

Dont eat chocolate WHATSOEVER, even on occasion. Cut down dramatically on carbs. Drink lots of water.

If you are overweight due to genetic stuff- you need to see someone professional

Stick to eatting no more than 1800 calories a day. Many people think losing weight has to do with the fat intake, its actual calories. look up on the internet the calories within things u like to eat. eg apple-50 calores, small dairy milk -150 calores. calores are seen in nutrional info on the packets if u look closely – (kcal)
Your ment to live on 2000 a day but since u want to loose weight u shud aim no more than 1,800 – u can still eat all the stuff u like just watch the calories.

    Hope this helped 🙂

you will either have to up your exercise by at least an extra 30 minutes a day. Or cut back on your calories by at least 500 calories a day. If you’re worried about feeling hungry eating more wholewheat, complex carbs and protein should help.

  34. pretty girl 333 said :

    up the cardio!
you can do two hours or just one hour but you need to be sweating bulletts!
work up a swaet and you’ll feel better not only lose weight!

    as for the diet …
cut out all carbs and sugar and dairy.

eat your heart out with loads of salads and soups and steamed veggies and grilled chicken.

eat only fresh fruit for breakfast and then have your largest, protein rich meal of the day at lunch. eat till full and i garantee you won’t want dinner!

well…you can’t just burn calories like hell and lose weight at a good rate and healthily. add fruits at least, do yoga, and cut back on serving sizes. eat what you want with a 1000 calorie a day limit. that should help

    🙂

Don’t convince yourself you need to not eat or to eat less. Tell yourself you can eat all you want…vegetables for example. You don’t have to go hungry, slice up a cucumber and snack on that. Eat a bunch of crunchy veggies anytime you want. Eventually, you’ll feel full even if you eat a lot of veggies and you won’t have to feel guilty either. Don’t forget your protein. Just replace what you’re eating with a healthy alternative. You don’t necessarily have to limit the amount of food you eat. I eat blueberries for a snack. Fresh ones are kind of expensive so I get frozen ones. I defrost them and that is one of my sweet snacks. I allow myself to eat every hour and I feel like it’s a reward. The blueberries is one item. I also have a handful of walnuts the next hour. Celery sticks another. Don’t forget meals. You need protein for your muscles and collagen. Again, the attitude shift should not be denial, but being open to eating different foods. The bonus is getting thinner and eating healthy and not feeling hungry.

Eat to lose weight! Seriously, a low fat 1200 calorie diet will work on just about anyone. Eat lean protein, 1 serving of fruit (1 cup of berries or 1/2 cup of all other fruits), and try to get in as many veggies as you can in your diet everyday. It’s important to get all of those nutrients in your body because it actually helps you lose weight. If you don’t eat “enough”, say like starve yourself, your body will go into starvation mode and try to store whatever you “do” eat, it’s just not worth it at all, especially when you “can” eat and lose weight, 1200 is the magic number for your metabolism. Just try it!

try these exercises they work for me and its hard for me to lose weight:

Basic crunch: Lie flat on your back, knees bent and feet flat on the ground. Put your hands behind your head for support only, not to take any weight. Using your stomach muscles only, rise a few inches off the ground, hold for three seconds and return to your starting position. Do three sets of 15.

Standing twist: Stand tall and hold a towel or resistance band high above your head so your arms are straight. Slowly draw a large, wide circle over your head using your stomach muscles to move only the upper half of your body. Do three sets of 15. To make it harder, use a weight instead of a towel.

Feet lift: Lie flat on the ground and keeping your feet together and legs straight, raise your legs three inches off the ground. Hold for five seconds, lower them an inch and hold for five again. Don’t let your feet touch the ground at any time. Do three sets of 15.

Hanging knee raises: Hang from a high bar, like a chin-up bar. Bring your knees up to your chest, hold for three seconds, then bring your legs back down. Only use your abdominal muscles to lift your legs, keep your body still and use controlled, slow movements.

Slow bicycles: Lie on your back with your left knee bent towards your chest and your right leg extended a few inches off the ground. Place your hands behind your head and lift your shoulders slightly. Swap your legs slowly, keeping your feet and shoulders off the ground. Do three set of 15.

crunches where you put your hands behind your neck, lift your neck, and one elbow meets the opposite knee when you bring the knee to your chest.

Lie on your stomach, keeping your hips and pelvis flat. With your hands under your chin (or in a pushup position to assist in lifting, if necessary), contract your lower back muscles and lift your chest about 30 to 35 degrees off the floor. Hold, then slowly lower

Sit up straight in a firm, armless chair. Grab the chair’s edges just in front of your hips. While supporting yourself with your hands, slowly draw your knees up toward your chest while breathing out, keeping your lower back pressed against the chair. Hold, then slowly lower

Lie on your back with your knees bent and your lower legs placed horizontally on top of a chair. Your thighs should be vertical, your hips close to the chair. Curl up slowly, with your upper back about 30 degrees off the floor, and hold. Slowly return to the floor. For a more challenging workout, hold your legs straight up in the air.

Lie on your back, knees bent and feet flat on the floor, and place your left ankle on your right knee. Put your hands behind your head, with your elbows pointing out. Slowly raise your right shoulder toward your left knee, lifting your upper back and twisting slightly. Keep your elbow in line with your ear, not in front of you. Don’t pull on your head or neck. Hold, then slowly lower. Repeat to the other side.

Lie on your back and place your hands, palms down, alongside your thighs. Bend your hips and knees to form a 90-degree angle: thighs vertical, lower legs horizontal. Now slowly contract your abdominal muscles, lifting your hips about 2 to 4 inches off the floor. Keep your upper body and arms relaxed. Hold, then slowly lower.

Continue on doing what you are doing, because it sounds to me you are already active and doing lots of activities which is a bonus. There is nothing wrong with what you are doing, I believe you are anxious and stressing out because of the industry you are in and perhaps there is some self-esteem issues that are clouding your thoughts also. by the way I’m speculating here not suggesting you do.

You are young and at a young age, self-esteem and image plays an important role in growing up. However do not compare yourself with others and set your own goals and expectations. Being a 15 year old you should be enjoying what you are doing and focusing on the things that matter on a day to day basis.

Eat healthy, plenty of exercise, stay motivated and continue on being an active cheerful 15 year old girl. 🙂

Good luck with it all and best of luck with your entertainment and future.
