exercise and watching calorie intake is the only true and proven way to lose weight. Burn more calories than you intake and you will see the pounds come off. It may be slow, but its the only gaurenteed way.

First of all stop panicking. Yeah, you’re big and you need to get in better shape, but lots of people are like that– it’s a normal problem and not the end of the world.

I bet you already know a lot about diet advice– people are always giving out diet advice and some of it is good and some of it is bad– I’m not going to lecture you on diet or exercise.

It’s more important that you stop panicking and stop looking for some drastic and sudden solution. Change will take a long time to come– it will be more like a slow transformation. You need to find the inner peace to get you through many days– it’s about getting little choices to add up and having realist goals.

Love yourself. That’s the first step.

When you say you’ve tried everything, do you really mean you’ve tried every fad going? Weight loss is actually very easy. If you can almost entirely cut out refined sugar from your diet, you’ll find that you’ll be able to regulate everything else you eat too. Also cut down on the fat in your diet, and then the biggie, find some sort of exercise that you enjoy and can find the time for every day.

You are not going to lose massive amounts of weight over night, but give it a few months and you should easily lose a couple of stone!

regular small amounts of excercise and don’t eat between meals. If you want to snack chew mint chewing gum – it will suppress your appetite.

at 16st and 6ft you’re far from being too heavy to get fit. try light jogging, now it’s getting darker you don’t need to worry too much about the neighbours curtain twitching either. a 5km jog done over 30 to 40 mins will burn 500-600 calories, that combined with cutting out snacks and watching portion size should see the weight drop off you.

    good luck

It’s very simple, you just need to change your life style and implement exercise into it. Give up all food like chips and high fat food and instead eat a lot of fish and meat, then you decide what your goal is.
Do you want to be thin and slender or do you want to have the muscle look?

I would say you have the weight and doing a lot of weight lifting would be good for you, then you need to go to a decent gym and try working out with your friends.
You should do an exercise programme for about 4 days a week and you must stick to it.
You won’t see improvements until your 2 months into it so it’s all down to you in the end.
If you can’t be bothered to put the time and effort into it though then you might as well not even start.

Keep composed at all situations even when unwanted and unexpected and even “seemingly” unsolvable problems crop up. Then have regular exercises must be a routine part of daily life; ie: brisk walking, swimming, cycling, basket-ball play- anyone of these. If you are truly religious and not hypocratically “cultish” that may help you a lot to keep mental balance without getting over worried and keeping what is practical and available and affordable to try to keep your weight down in a systematic way by controlling intake of food but not on any sort of diet and not going after madly and foolishly after fabulous and deceitful advertisements and commercials on this issue. Try to hepl people around you who are lesser previlaged than you regarding educatin, talents, resources and economic wealth which will give you lot of satisfaction for living in this age and in our times and that will in turn boost your physical, mental moral and psychic health, and really challenging you to live and not to worry about living. I tell you or share with you these in good spirit and humour and not in any way to offend or provoke you .

The problem with your question is that if you look in “search for questions” it comes up 30 times every day. I have had some criticism for repeatedly using the same answer, but since I am happy with my answer, and the questions are the same, I don’t see the issue with recycling the same answer.

In practise for problems that came up on a regular basis we tended to use patient leaflets to avoid having to repeat ourselves this seemed a sensible use of resources. What follows is thus in effect me information leaflet.

Weight loss and fitness is always a long term commitment and never a quick fix. If you really want to reduce your weight a bit, this is a complex regime, that should help, I would get a pencil to write it down, in case you forget any of the intricate details.

Currently only using the criteria ‘lose weight’ there are 9,419 questions and answers on Answers already. Mis-spell it as ‘loose weight’ and you get another 2,633! ‘Weight loss’ will add another 1,883. ‘Too fat ‘ 15,515 and ‘overweight’ 2,692 and ‘over weight’ 26,269!!!!!.

‘Diet Pills’ gives 607, Green tea 482, Hoodia 195, ‘pink patch’ 119, ‘Xenical’ 91 ‘Reductil’ 78, ‘Slim fast’ 215 (and Slimfast 69 ), lipotrim 44 and ‘orlistat’ 40 . Do you spot a pattern here? OMG that is 60,000 questions with the same basic theme, wanting to lose weight!

Here comes the only answer, no tricks, no pills, no short cuts, If you really want to lose weight, loose weight, not be too fat or overweight, follow these instructions carefully:-

    1) Eat less
    2) Take regular vigorous exercise

    Repeat 1 + 2 forever

You need to try the Elimination Diet. It’s simple and it’s free to find out about. Basically you eat reeaaallly clean for a month and the weight drops off, you cleanse your body, and you learn better which foods actually work for you and which don’t.

Very simple concepts but so rarely applied or properly explained.

Like I said, it’s free so go and have a look at

    Easy, EAT HEALTHY, and EXCERCISE!!!!!!!!

For a healthy diet, you need to be eating small to medium meals regularly. 4 or even 5 times a day. Each meal (apart from breakfast which should preferably be fibre rich), should contain a balanced ammount of carbohydrates for energy, (from potatoes, rice and pasta, etc) protien (from fish, chicken, occassional red meat is fine, soya is good too) and plenty of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants (simple fresh fruit and veg). Eat like this and make sure you are well hydrated (fruit juice is as good as water, any fluid counts, but some fluids have negative effects too, such as alcohol or caffiene rich drinks.)

You can have a wide range of healthy meals with this, from Thai, Chinese, Italian, British, Indian, etc. Just make sure each meal contains balanced ammounts of these three.

This doesn’t mean you cant have chocolate or pizza/takeaway/etc, just save them as very occassional treats.

The big secret to keeping a healthy weight and staying healthy is EXCERCISE, particularly cardio excercise (running, swimming, cycling, etc).

Cardio exercise will not only burn calories and reduce your body fat levels, but will also improve your resting heart rate and lung function, making you healthier.

Strength training will help you strengthen and tone your muscles. Heavy weights with short reps/sets will build your fast twitch muscle fibres and build size, power and strength, but if you use light to medium weights with lots of reps/sets, you wont build size, but you will tone up your muscles body and train muscle endurance. This will obviously make you ‘look’ healthier and more toned, but will also increase your metabolism (as your muscles demand more energy) so you will burn calories faster.

As far as excercise goes, you should aim to strike a balance between cardio training and strength training, this way you will build good strong and toned muscle, but also keep your body fat levels down and increase your heart and lung performance, making you much fitter and healthier, whilst putting weight on you.

    Hope this helps.
