How can I lose fat on my hips, thighs, abs & arms?

I lost a bunch of weight doing Weight Watchers (they said I shouldn’t lose anymore lbs.) but I still have fat on my thighs hips abs and arms. I do workout videos with weights, but it doesn’t seem to be enough. What should I do?

The most important part of losing weight is WILLPOWER ! Don’t try to starve yourself / push yourself too hard; weight loss should be gradual.

tip: weight exercises don’t burn fat !

Cardio is the only effective exercise that burns overall body fat. This includes running long distance, endurance swimming, biking, anything that will get your heart rate up and make you sweat. Doing these 2-3 times a week should be enough. Instead of doing videos with weights, do ones involving dancing and stretching.

Individual exercises like sit ups, squats, push ups, etc will help you gain muscle; it only “spot reduces” the fat there. The increase of muscle would require more energy to maintain, thus increasing your metabolism. Therefore, I recommend you to do cardio as well as the individual exercises.

As for food, stay away from sweets and greasy dishes. Avoid stuffing yourself with food right after exercise, because it gets absorbed easier. Drinking lots of water and eating plenty of high-fibre foods also help. I recommend you to eat more fruits and veggies, but still have some protein with each meal. This way, you are not as likely to get hungry and have a snack. Another great way is to count calories. If you are going to lose weight, you want to eat slightly less calories than your body needs. I’d say 1500 – 2000 calories would be a good start.
