How can a 16 year old girl lose weight fast?

I want to lose weight before I go back to school. I am 5’5 and about 132 lbs. About how much should I weigh? I want to lose weight but in a healthy way ( I don’t want to be anorexic, bulimic, take diet pills, or some supplements.) What should I do? Thanks!

You are a COMPLETELY normal weight. So just start running, or riding your bike, and become more active doing something you enjoy.

you’re in healthy weight, i don’t think you need a specific target here, why not just have fun and workout 3 times a week in the gym?
you can start off with 40 minutes cardio and some weights for toning. You can also try varying your workouts so you won’t get bored, try joining pilate, step aerobics and spinning classes. Have fun!

Don’t worry too much about an EXACT amount that you should weigh.

There is so much false information going around about weight loss. Some is decent advice but most of it is horrible.

The most important thing for fat loss, is that your diet is as natural and unprocessed as possible. It almost always comes back to the over processing of food that makes it bad for you, and makes it totally destroy your metabolism and hormone balance in your body. For example, why eat refined grains, when you can eat whole grains. Why eat refined sugar, when you can get natural sources of sugar from a high nutrient whole food like fruit. Why eat highly processed, refined, and hydrogenated vegetable oils (these are THE worst thing in the modern diet), when you can eat natural sources of healthy fats like nuts, avocados, fish, eggs, coconut milk, organically raised meat, and so forth. The point is to not fall for some gimmick like low carbs, low fat, high protein, or any other combination that has you focusing on one macronutrient vs. another. Your body needs all macronutrients to thrive and obtain a variety of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, etc. Trying to cut an entire food group out just works against what your body needs.

Just be persistent, set goals, make little changes and stick with them. Don’t count calories, it will drive you crazy. Just stop eating when your satisfied. You will get to where you want to be. You really have to want it, I did, and I’m at my goal weight now. Please check out my blog, I think you will enjoy the information and my weight loss story. The link is below and best of luck hon.

you should eat at least 4-5 meals a day.

drink lots of water, and eat regularly. don’t starve yourself, because once you start eating again, you’ll gain everything back, trust me.

eat lots of fruits and veggies, and if you eat bread, make sure it’s whole grain. white bread is pretty fattening. you can also eat lean meats, like fish, turkey and chicken breast. eggs also help when trying to lose weight.

skip out on sweets, candy, sugary foods, chips, ice cream, cake, and cookies.

if you feel hungry, but don’t want to over eat, chew gum. it’ll keep your mouth busy and it tricks yourself into thinking your eating.

cut out ALL soda! if you stop drinking soda, it helps you out a lot!
    and don’t forget to exercise!

try walking, jogging, jump rope, dancing, crunches, bike riding and swimming. try exercising for 45-80 minutes a day.
    good luck!

I have the right answer for your unique condition, read along.

Everybody wants to look their best and what better way than to go on a lose weight. Losing weight can be a boring experience but it is important to avoid boredom at all costs. That way you stay focused. The other important thing is to have the drive to lose weight. Go ahead and find something that will motivate you. Visualize yourself succeeding and then actually take action. It is that easy.

So in order to lose weight and look great you need to diet correctly. Do this by eating healthier foods. You may want to cut back your calorie intake but not to the point where you feel out of energy and hungry all the time. To avoid hunger you should eat frequently so that you stay satisfied all day. This technique also boosts your metabolism so that you burn more fat and feel better. Eat clean foods that are not high in fat and sugar. Consume foods like fruit, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, and lean meats.

Start a work out program so that you burn more calories. Try to get at least twenty minutes of exercising in each day. You can also take a day off each week. I find it is easier to Work out during the week days and then take the weekend off. Just start working out slowly and then progress. Once you get in shape it will be much easier to burn off more calories. Dieting to lose weight does not have to be a boring task.

All the best, and do let us know how it goes!

A lot of the answers you will see here will tell you to buy some sort of supplement. Don’t take diet pills. They are unnatural and dangerous. It is not the lack of pills that get us heavy; that is not the fix we need. It was (most likely) improper diet and lifestyle that got you the extra weight. That is the fix we need.

The best way to be healthy is through the principles of balance and moderation. You need to eat good food and eat enough of it.

When trying to lose weight, shoot to lose 1-3 pounds per week. No more. Don’t go hungry, just keep yourself filled with good, natural foods.

Don’t worry about calories. Caloric science is flawed for several reasons. 1) it assumes 100% absorption, but we all absorb and excrete different amounts; 2) It assumes all calories are processed the same, but calories from natural sources are burned more slowly and evenly than from refined sources; 3) It assumes that the amount of energy released by combustion (burning) in a lab is the same amount of energy released when the food is broken down enzymatically in the gut; 4) It assumes that the same exercise done by different people will burn the same amount of exercise, but different exercises will be harder or easier for different people; 5) People in China consume 25-40% more calories; even the sedentary office workers have more calories and less obesity than we.

Asian cultures have long ago figured out how we should be eating, Ever since we have looked to science to tell us how to eat we have seen more obesity and diet-related disease. If we eat like the Asians, we will look like the Asians. This doesn’t mean you have to eat Asian food, just adhere to the principles that are common to the different cultures and cuisines.

You should eat mostly vegetables, mostly cooked (cold and raw foods slow your metabolism because they need to be cooked in your stomach) and a wide variety, mostly fresh and in-season and local, simple grains (more rice, less bread), some fruit, a little meat, no dairy (it’s for infants and grows tissue), and no artificial foods.

Avoid artificial foods, including sugar substitutes. Don’t worry about calories, fat, protein, carbs, nor any one component of food.

There are several books that explain this strategy of eating. “The Asian Diet: simple secrets for eating right, losing weight, and being well” by Bussell explains the diet and its rationale. “The Asian Diet: get slim and stay slim the Asian way” by Tran has recipes that adhere to the principles. “The China Study” by Campbell has the science behind the recommendation.

Get some exercise every day, but not too much and not always the same exercise. Start slow and work your way up. Calisthenics are great, as is Tai Chi. Walking and swimming are also great. All other exercises should be in a wide rotation.

Follow the principles of balance and moderation and you’ll be fine. Most diets in America are not balanced nor moderate.

    Hi Horizon!

The ideal weight for a woman of your height can be anything from 117 to 155 pounds, depending on build. But if you’re not comfortable with yourself right now (I’m a bit over 5’8″ & my ideal weight is 132 lbs), you should try adjusting your diet & exercise. No crash diets or pills are necessary–in fact, they can mess up your metabolism & leave you worse off than when you started!

If you want to figure out the most effective way to tweak your diet & exercise so that you lose weight & stay healthy, you’ll need to do a little math. You can get help with that here:

You definitely can lose weight before you go back to school!

Step 1: Cut down on the amount of processed sugars and carbohydrates you eat.Step 2:Consume only small portions of starchy grains and vegetables, such as brown rice, beans, corn, and potatoes. Try to limit yourself to only one small serving of a starch per day.Step 3:Eat one portion of lean protein with every meal, and two portions of veggies.Step 4:Varying your menu will keep you from getting bored. Also, using lots of fresh herbs and good quality spices will make your meals more flavorful without adding fat.Step 5:For exercise, if you haven’t exercised in a while, start with something low impact, like walking. If you can, walk somewhere hilly so that your level of excursion varies. Pair your cardio workouts with strength training. Lifting light weights will increase your muscle mass. More muscle means you will be burning more calories every day, even while at rest.

Step 1:First you want to walk when possible you do not need to jog just walk. Take a walk around the neighborhood. Jump on the trampoline with the kids. Try to get a least a little bit of physical activity.Step 2:You will need to eat a lot of cereal including oatmeal, tuna on wheat with a little mayonnaise, fish, grains, fresh fruit, and fresh vegetables. Step 3:You can still eat at fast food restaurants just eat a little healthier.
Eat a grilled chicken salad with low fat dressing and drink water or a diet soda. Or eat a sandwich on wheat with lots of vegetables and turkey with low fat dressing or none at all. You can enjoy some of those high fat foods occasionally just not daily. Limit yourself to one every two weeks. Watch the pounds begin to shed.

I have been through it all and know what’s it about. The main thing is to stick in there. You can’t be an addict to food and never exercise if you want to live a healthy life and keep the weight off. I’ve worked out, done every diet, and all types of classes.

Nothing works, besides dedication and intelligence towards the subject of losing weight.

First, depending on how much weight you need to lose, your diet is the first concern. You can’t eat 10,000 calories a day and expect the weight to come off, even if you are exercising a lot. Which brings us to the next thing. Duh, Exercising…

This is a must especially if you need to a lot of weight. Get at least 30 mins of some good hardcore exercising. Do some cardio, in the long run, it’s good for the heart.

However, I find the most hardest part of losing weight/keeping it off, in my diet. It’s so hard to keep your fingers out of the cookie jar or those chocolate goodies. I’ve found a great addition to help any one out, it’s a natural weight loss supplement called Proactol. Now don’t get all crazy on me and say diet pills don’t work. That is true, but not in this case. This one isn’t meant to burn pounds while you sit on the couch. It’s an appetite suppressant, along with being a fat binder. I saved money on the pills at along with getting some good info. It basically makes those fingers not go towards the cookie jar. For me it’s the best pill I’ve tried and I’ve tried cupboards full. Now this doesn’t mean you have to follow my foot steps but I’ve successfully lost roughly 70 pounds and keeping it off til this day.

Well good luck and remember what I said, Dedicate.

Step 1:First of all cut back on sweetened soda and juice… these drinks have a lot of calories and the calories .Step 2:Cut back on breads and rice, carbohydrates. they have a lot of sugar which in turn can turn to fat plus they don’t keep you filled as long…. eat foods high in protien and fiber… meats, greens, protien bars… high fiber bread.Step 3:the next key is exercise.. Start a walking club at work…. if you walk during your luncg break even if it is a 20 minute walk that adds up during the end of the week. get a wal in on the weekend or go to the gym a little here and there will make a difference over time . a few minor changes will really make a difference.
