How am i possibly suppose to lose weight?

I’ve never worked out before but realized now i need to lose some weight. I would like to lose between 15-20 lbs. I’ve been working out and i’ll lose 300 calories on the treadmill for 45 mins and i think that’s pretty good. I just did the math and in order for me to lose 1 lb i have to burn 3500 calories. How is that suppose to happen? that’s like 9 hrs on a bike for 1 lb. Will i lose weight doing different things?

Working out increase your metabolism so you burn more calories throughout the day. Plus, added muscle burns even more fat. Keep hitting the weights and the treadmill and stop any junk food.

Think about how hard it is to burn 300 calories next time you want to have a large coke, ice cream or that side of fries.

you can’t lose it all in one go, just reduce your calorie consumption and exercise so you are eating less calories and burning more.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the daily calorie needs calculator http://calorieneedscalculator.com This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.

They say to eat six small meals a day so that you metabolism doesn’t have to work so hard and the calories burn faster. I don’t know though.

    Hey,

Ok first you need to go to this site

    http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-calculator/

You can figure out how many calories you will burn in a day on bed rest (if you were in a coma :)) then when you get that number times it by an activity number (you can find the chart on the site I listed)

Normally it is 1.35-1.4 for most people. Once you get this number eat 500 calories less than what it is and you will lose a pound a week.

So if you burn 2500 calories eat 2000 and you will lose 1 pound a week.

your tredmill workout isnt intense enough…do weights 3 times a week, though you can hit the tredmill 5 or 6 times a week and calorie shift your food intake as well…its good to adjust your time table once in a while trying to add variety to your workouts so you dont easily get a plateau…it will take 2 months to safely shed 20 lbs…good luck

working out increases your metabolism, but honestly, the true way to lose weight is eating right. as long as you consume the proper amount of each food category in the food pyramid, and limit the amount of fats and oils u take in, you will do fine and you will lose weight just like that! working out just helps out! if u go to the gym, u should workout once every 2 days so that u have time to rest, don’t stress ur body too hard to lose the weight, because in the end you tend to worry too much about ur weight and u start eating more, which only makes u fatter! so don’t think that working out is the only way to burn calories, you also burn calories when ur sleeping! so get a lot of rest!!hope i helped a little!

the best thing to do is eat healthy, don’t call it ”diet” , call it life style, keep up what you are doing, and if you can add more exercise to your rutine, like do sit ups, and crunches, that will be good, and don’t think is going to be easy, but is imposible, if people can do it, then so can you!!!@@
    good luck=]
