Get long term travel insurance from your own country. If you need to be moved home or to claim, it will be much easier to deal with.

Travelers/tourists & visitors are not eligible for our provincial health plans. Your best bet is to inquire in your home country for traveler’s insurance. (most health plans here that you can buy need a provincial health card to be eligible)

health-quotes.isgreat.org – try this one. It is affordable and has good coverage for dental issues.
As I remember they can provide such a service in Canada.

I work for an insurance company. Travel insurance for foreign or exchange students is one of the things we do. Where in Canada are you going to? If I am near by, i would love to help.
