could stopping smoking cold turkey cause palpitations?
i’ve been a heavy smoker for at least four years and just found out i was pregnant a week ago. i quit cold turkey right away but have been getting uncomfortable heart palpitations for the past few days. could this be because of the smoking?

I stopped smoking cold turkey and I had no palpitations or any kind of bad symptoms…

I’m trying too and have the same problem. The best answer for your question, is in the source below. I would have to think, “jittery” would feel the same as heart palpitations.Always remember nicotine is a drug, and a powerful one too, so we must expect drug withdrawal effects. I just go nuts the second something goes wrong and lighht up. It’s hard but possible, I wish you the best of luck! If you use the Yahoo search and type in quittin smoking side effects, you’ll find a lot more, I just felt this one most answered your question.

Yes, you could get heart palpitations because your body is withdrawing from a heavy narcotic, nicotine. Nicotine is a very serious drug. I recommend you contact your medical doctor to see if they can help you with this problem.
Good for you for making the decision to stop smoking to have a healthy baby. Give yourself a pat on the back.
